Doodle is a drawing game. You are given a word, you draw it, and the app scores how close you got. This page explains exactly what the app does with what you draw and what it knows about you.
There is no account to create and no personal information is asked for. The scoring happens on your own phone, not on a server. Your drawings are not stored anywhere after a game ends, and they are never used to train anything. There are no advertisements and no analytics.
The model that scores a drawing is bundled inside the app and runs on your phone. When you play on your own, the app does not use the network at all — nothing you draw leaves the device.
An online round needs the players' phones to reach each other, so some data passes through Google Firebase. What travels is this:
| What | Why | How long it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous player ID | So the game can tell one player from another during a round | Until you uninstall the app |
| The room code, the word to draw, and the round's start time | So everyone gets the same word and the same countdown | Deleted when the room closes |
| The lines of your drawing, as coordinates | So the other players can see what you drew | Deleted when the room closes |
| Your score for the round | So the results can be shown side by side | Deleted when the room closes |
Drawings are sent as coordinates, not as pictures, and they are only ever seen by the people in your room. The room and everything in it is removed when the last player leaves.
The anonymous ID is created by Firebase Authentication. It is a random string. It is not linked to your name, your email, your phone number, or any account, and it exists only so the rules protecting the game can tell whose score is whose. Uninstalling the app ends it.
As part of providing this service, Google Firebase also processes technical information such as your device's IP address. That is Google's standard operation of its infrastructure and is covered by Firebase's own privacy documentation.
Doodle is suitable for children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age, and contains no chat, no advertising, and nothing to buy. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through this app, please write to the address below and it will be removed.
Game rooms delete themselves when everyone leaves, so there is normally nothing to remove. Uninstalling the app discards the anonymous ID. If you would like anything else looked into, write to the address below.
